Albany County resident Sincere Cancer, of Albany, is charged with:

  • Murder in the second degree
  • Two counts of attempted robbery in the first degree
  • Two counts of criminal possession of a weapon in the second degree
  • Two counts of criminal possession of a controlled substance in the fourth degree
  • Criminal possession of a controlled substance in the third degree
  • Reckless endangerment

He pleaded not guilty to all charges in Albany County Court on Friday, Aug. 2.

Investigators say Cancer and Branden Rivera attempted to rob 15-year-old Destiny Greene on Wilbur Street in Albany on May 24, 2021. During a scuffle, Greene was shot and killed.

Rivera pleaded guilty to the killing in 2022, and a judge sentenced him to 25 years in prison, authorities said.

Cancer is also accused of endangering the life of someone with a loaded pistol in July 2021, and possession of cocaine and other drugs in September 2023 and again in March 2024, the prosecutor said.

A judge ordered Cancer held without bail pending an application for release, the prosecutor said.
